Afternoon visit to cosmopolitan town of Cortina d’Ampezzo

For a short break of skiing, we decided to pay a visit to this famous for World Cup Skiing town on the other side of the valley. You need to take one hour drive across the Giao Pass (Passo di Giau), mountain pass elevated above 2230 m, that connects Cortina d’Ampezzo with Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore. This drive alone was an amazing experience on its own – just do it on a sunny day, don’t even try to cross it when it snows.

Cortina itself is a relatively small town, much more expensive than other skiing areas in the neighborhood, with one main street lined with bars and small shops. We’ve decided to some ice skating in Olympic Ice Arena before driving back to our base across the mountains.

Embrace the Magic of Civetta

In the Civetta ski area, every turn reveals a new vista of breathtaking beauty, every descent an exhilarating adventure. Whether you’re carving fresh tracks through powdery snow or soaking in the tranquil ambiance of a mountain village, Civetta offers an unparalleled winter wonderland experience that will leave you longing to return year after year. So, pack your skis, bundle up, and prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey through the snowy splendor of the Dolomites.

This is the blog about traveling trips that we have always dreamt of. My wife and I decided to continue our lives the way we have always wanted, even after our kids were born. We met during our student years, working at the biggest cinema multiplex in Ljubljana, Slovenia. We have both studied to become teachers, which we became a few years after we met each other. Since then my wife Tina continues to work as teacher while I went in completely opposite direction. We got married in 2007 and after two years we had our beautiful boy Svit. In 2012 we were blessed with a lovely daughter named Nia, preemie born in 27th week of pregnancy.
