Introduction

Dubai, often dubbed as the “City of Dreams,” has emerged as a global tourist hotspot, and for a good reason. Its gleaming skyscrapers, dazzling shopping malls, and a diverse range of attractions make it a perfect destination for travelers of all ages. Recently, we had the pleasure of spending four exhilarating days in Dubai and we can confidently say that this city has something to offer for everyone, including the ever-curious and energetic kids.

Travelling to Dubai during the cooler months is a more pleasant experience compared to visiting during the hot summer months. The cooler months in Dubai are from October to April, while the hottest months are from May to September.

Cool months have moderate temps (20-25°C) for outdoor activities like exploring the desert, visiting markets, and water sports.

In contrast, the hottest months can see temperatures soar to 40°C or more, making it challenging to be outdoors for long periods. Heat can affect trip enjoyment and health. Stay hydrated and use sunscreen.

✓ Tips:

  • Stay hydrated and use sunscreen.
  • Dress Modestly, Especially When Visiting Religious Sites.
  • Respect Local Customs and Traditions in Dubai
  • Familiarize Yourself with The Laws, Especially Regarding Alcohol Consumption and Public Displays of Affection
  • Use Taxis or Ride-Hailing Services (Uber, Careem)
  • Explore The Desert, Including Dune Bashing and Camel Rides

Day 1: Desert Adventure

No visit to Dubai is complete without experiencing the mesmerizing desert landscape. Book a desert safari and embark on a thrilling journey into the heart of the Arabian Desert. Your kids will love the dune bashing adventure in 4×4 vehicles, a rollercoaster ride over the sand dunes that promises an adrenaline rush that was palpable as they laughed and screamed their way through the golden dunes.

After the exhilarating ride, you can try sandboarding, camel riding, and even quad biking in the vast desert.

You can also book the evening tour with a more serene turn and a mesmerizing sunset over the desert. At the end you will enjoy a traditional Arabian barbecue dinner at a desert camp, complete with henna tattoos, belly dancing, and stargazing. Just remember that in the desert the temperate is really really high and the sun can fast become unforgiving.

✓ Cost:

  • We booked a trip with OceanAir Travels agency and were more than pleased with the trip
  • The Cost was 33 USD/person for 4 hours and included:
  • Pick up/drop off from our hotel and dune bashing in air-con 4×4
  • Sandboarding
  • Camel ride
  • Tea/coffee and unlimited soft drinks
  • Quad bike ride was optional and to be paid extra

Day 2: The Modern Marvels

Our adventure began with a bang as we explored some of Dubai’s iconic modern marvels. First up was the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper. You will get captivated by the breathtaking views from the observation deck on the 148th floor. It was the perfect introduction to the city’s grandeur.

Afterward, we visited the Dubai Mall, an immense shopping and entertainment complex located at the base of the Burj Khalifa. The kids were thrilled to see an indoor ice rink, an enormous aquarium, and countless shops to explore. It was a shopping paradise for all of us and we spent hours just wandering and discovering.

When the sun started to set down we took a troll around the Dubai Fountain, just outside the mall, where the water dances to the rhythm of music and dazzling lights, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

Day 3: Aquatic Adventures

Dubai is surrounded by water, and what better way to cool off than by exploring its aquatic wonders? We headed to Aquaventure Waterpark, located on the Palm Jumeirah. We were looking forward to this adventure for a couple of years. The adults become kids and we couldn’t get enough of the thrilling water slides, lazy river rides, and the chance to swim with dolphins. The day was all about fun in the sun and, of course, water.

Atlantis Aquaventure Water park is situated in The Avenues at Atlantis Dubai and it is respectfully the biggest waterpark in the world. It is right around the corner front from Downtown Dubai making it extremely easy to turn up. The adventure park is a thirty-five-minute drive by taxi form Deira area where we’ve stayed at –  Rove City Center.

The waterpark’s legendary rides include Medusa’s Lair, Shockwave and the River Rapids – its attractions are spread across three towers, and the park also features marine and watersports experiences, animal encounters, private beaches and children’s play areas for all ages.

✓ Tips:

  • Make sure you get there as soon as the Park opens by 10.00 a.m. (buy your tickets and lockers in advance to avoid long ques) 85 USD/person.
  • Get a waterproof cover for your phone that is sold on the premises (15 USD).
  • Get your free pair of aqua socks as soon as you step into the park or your feet will get burned.
  • Choose the mornings to do all the most popular rides which are then in the Neptune Tower & Poseidon.
  • Take a break when it gets hot and drink PLENTY of water.

Day 4: Cultural Immersion

Our last day in Dubai was dedicated to exploring its rich heritage. We visited the Dubai Museum, housed in the historic Al Fahidi Fort, with its narrow alleyways, wind-tower architecture, and vibrant art galleries. It was a chance to connect with Dubai’s past and appreciate its cultural diversity.

In the afternoon, visit the Gold and Spice Souks in Deira, where you can haggle for souvenirs, jewelry, and spices. For a modern twist, head to the Dubai Frame, an architectural marvel that provides stunning views of both old and new Dubai.

Conclusion

Our four-day adventure in Dubai with teenagers was nothing short of extraordinary. From the futuristic skyscrapers to the tranquil desert, thrilling waterparks, and rich cultural experiences, Dubai offers a diverse range of activities that cater to all interests and ages. It was a trip filled with excitement, wonder, and the joy of discovery—a journey that left us with cherished memories and a deeper appreciation for this dynamic city. Dubai truly is a destination for everyone, including adventurous kids and adults alike seeking unforgettable experiences.

This is the blog about traveling trips that we have always dreamt of. My wife and I decided to continue our lives the way we have always wanted, even after our kids were born. We met during our student years, working at the biggest cinema multiplex in Ljubljana, Slovenia. We have both studied to become teachers, which we became a few years after we met each other. Since then my wife Tina continues to work as teacher while I went in completely opposite direction. We got married in 2007 and after two years we had our beautiful boy Svit. In 2012 we were blessed with a lovely daughter named Nia, preemie born in 27th week of pregnancy.
